My Magic – 30″x 22″
The soft neutral colours in “My Magic” and “Serendipity” create a relaxing atmosphere. The calmness also allows the richness of textures and materials to shine through. The touches and placement of the green and gold provides movement and works to make a harmonious piece. Each painting can stand on their own or place together to create a diptych.

Seahorse I – 60″ x 48″
SEAHORSE is a large (“96×48”) diptych created using two 48”x60” gallery canvases. This dramatic piece began with one initial large gesture, one that had meaning, emotion and intention behind it. From this one gesture emerged the seahorse. Long ago, seahorses were considered mystical and magical creatures. The interaction of the colour choices, oxidation and strong movement have created an enchanting piece.

Graditude – 16″ x 16″
HUMILITY, GRACE, GRATITUDE and REVERENCE are 16” x 16” gallery canvases, wired and ready to hang. The inspiration for this series comes from a discovered waterfall in the Lillooet region of B.C. I was humbled in their presence. The falls flowed with such power and strength but due to the refinement of movement the surrounding rocks had been buffed to a soft rounded sheen. I wanted to express both the elements of humility and grace that is offered in nature for our pleasure. If interested in purchasing either, Humility or Grace please leave your contact information and I will return inquiries promptly.

Coral Reef – 24″ x 20″
CORAL REEF is a (20 x 24” gallery canvas) aqueous themed painting created using multiple layers of acrylic paint, building them up and then scraping them down to reveal layers. The mixed media crackle effect initiated to me the suggestion of a coral reef and became my inspiration. A coral reef is an incredible wildlife habitat housing nearly 25% of life in the ocean and the amazing natural pigments that nature presents I hoped to capture in this painting.

Reflections (Diptych) – 32″ x 16″
Inspired from the beautiful water of Georgian Bay the light blue sky and blue water have a refreshing and free feeling. I enjoy watching the water and reflections change on a daily basis. Even in its harshest presentation I still get a feeling of calm and serenity when observing it.

Fault Line I – 40″ x 36″
FAULT LINE I & FAULT LINE II: is made up of two (36”x40”) gallery canvases. Together they can create a diptych or if preferred could hang independent of one another. A fault is a fracture in a volume of rock as a result of rock mass movement. Pressure changes cause precious metals, gold veins and fissures to create an organic colour palette under our Earth’s crust each time it moves. In helping to create this feeling I used Gold Mica Flake, Glass Bead Gel, Course Alumina and Iridescent and Bright Fine Gold.

The Tree of Life – 40″ x 30″
THE TREE OF LIFE (30”x 40” gallery canvas) is a textured large painting enhanced with reflective metallic paint and copper leaf giving it a shimmering iridescence. The oxidation emerges out of the interaction with the painting solutions speeding the aging process to create beautiful patinas. Abstractions are found in nature and this piece pays homage to the forests of majestic trees and to our ancestors who honored them. This painting has been selected for the Elaine Fleck’s Catalog of Contemporary Fine Art- Fall 2015. If interested in purchasing THE TREE OF LIFE please leave your contact information and I will return inquiries promptly.

Sunburst I – 24″ x 12″
This little diptych is full of power and movement. The white is a bright contrast against the yellow and grey. The calming grey tones down the strength of yellow and give the grey and strength on its own. The sun shows its face to us in many different ways, all beautiful – all colourful

Lilac’s In The Sun – 30″ x 22″
I like to challenge myself and experiment with different colour palettes. I love how the blue, green and pink all work together in this piece. When naming paintings I try to get inspiration from the piece itself. Nonobjective art is all about shape and colour and how one manipulates the paint. I happened to be teaching about Claude Monet at the time and was pleasantly surprised when I came upon his painting, Lilacs in the Sun, 1872 hence my naming inspiration for this painting.

Blackbird Singing – 24″ x 18″
Black and white pieces with colour accents are striking. The crisp white and crisp black creates a strong overall statement. The subtle yellow is used to maintain the energy in the painting. “How wonderful yellow is. It stands for the sun”. Vincent Van Gogh
